AKRON, Ohio – Josephine N. Peterson, 95, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the St. Luke Lutheran Community Center in Akron, Ohio.
She was born on December 27, 1921 in Walsenburg, Colorado, daughter of the late, Kathryn (Crist) and Joseph Novak.
Josephine was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Warren. She retired from General Motors in 1978, after working over thirty years as a Press Operator.
Josephine loved being with her family. She loving raised her four children and her brothers and sisters. She enjoyed baking, cooking and always made sure her home was in order. Josephine was an amazing woman and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Josephine is survived by her children, Joan (Maurice) Rackey, Barbara Jean Baan, Rita “Diane” Zito and Janet (Rob) Oriti; 12 grandchildren, Kathleen Rackey, Michael Rackey, Laurie (Bill) Hunter, Diana (Albert) Sipka, Lee Guy, Paul Guy, Jeffrey Zito, Christopher Zito, Denise (Adam) Harper, David Dietrich, Patrick Dietrich and Susan Rodfong; 16 great-grandchildren, Melissa, Troy (Martina), Allison, Albert, Jr., Lee, Jr., Heather, Stephanie, Jonathan, Peyton, Cullen, Niko Tallman, Amber, Arianna, Isaac, Hunter and Corey and five great-great-grandchildren, Kai, Tyler, Luke, Madalyn and Emmalyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Peterson; parents; two brothers, Joseph and John Novak; four sisters, Alma, Anna, Molly and Theresa and two sons-in-law, Pete Baan and Melvin Zito.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating.
Burial will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren. Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel.
