Suspected knife in Youngstown stabbing hidden in tree

The victim told officers he was attacked by a man he encountered behind a house on Park Avenue

Scott Suciu is charged with felonious assault.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – An altercation between two men in Youngstown ended with one suffering a stab wound to the neck.

According to a police report, officers were called about 6:30 p.m. Friday to an apartment building on Park Avenue where they encountered a man with a stab wound to his neck.

The victim told officers he was attacked by a man he encountered behind a house on Park Avenue.

Officers searched for the suspect in the area but didn’t find anything.

A witness told police he saw the suspect put something in a tree across the street. Officers recovered a knife lodged in a branch, according to the report.

A short time later, officers were flagged down and told that the suspect had returned to the apartment building. Officers entered an apartment there and arrested 38-year-old Scott Suciu on a felonious assault charge. He is being held in the Mahoning County Jail.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
