Key Returnees
The Braves will rely on the play and leadership of junior Logan Popovich and sophomore Aiden Miller. Popovich finished third in scoring last season (7.7 ppg). Miller was the team’s leading scorer (11.0 ppg) and second leading rebounder (5.8). Number 32 scored in double-figures in 13 of his 22 regular season games. Badger will be without six graduating seniors led by 6’3 guard Garrett Kellogg, who averaged 9.8 points and 5.9 boards last winter. Coach Upshire points out, “We don’t have any seniors, every player is fighting for a spot on varsity. We have let the players know that at any point they can move up or down, depending on how they practice. Each day, the coaching staff evaluates the players and we will put the players where we feel they are at the moment.”

Outlook
Hired in late-May – Upshire saw his team in workouts, opening gym and in the weight room instead of competing in camps. “My goal as a first-year coach is to make sure that we are better at game twenty-three than we were at game one,” says the former Badger standout. “If we can accomplish that goal this year, I will consider this a good year. Without having a senior and getting everyone back next year, if we just do that, we can build on it and have a bigger year next year.”
