JACKSON TWP., Mahoning Co., Ohio (WKBN) – Police found a 10-year-old Jackson Township girl who had gone missing Tuesday night.
The girl’s parents said she was playing in the backyard of their large property on Kirk Road when they called her in for dinner. She didn’t come and they couldn’t find her, so they called the police and multiple agencies responded to the scene.
Officers used thermal imaging devices and police dogs during the search that lasted about two hours.
A Canfield K9 officer found the girl, who was wearing a coat, in the large backyard.
“She was laying on the ground. At the time we found her, she was semi-conscious. She was not able to walk, she was carried back to the house. We wrapped her in blankets and attempted to get her warm until an ambulance was able to arrive,” said Jackson Township Police Chief Greg Taillon.
She was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman with some cuts to her ankles, but police said she’ll be okay.
No foul play is suspected.
