Jean S. Davis, Cortland, Ohio – obit

CORTLAND, Ohio – Jean S. Davis, age 89, of Cortland, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Lake Vista surrounded by her family.

Jean was born July 4, 1927, in McDonald, Pennsylvania, to the late Herman and Pearl (Lewis) Strimel.

Jean and her husband, Gomer, came to the Cortland area in 2006 from Greensburg, Pennsylvania; they spent many winters in Palm Bay, Florida.

Jean was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont, Pennsylvania and she attended the Cortland Christian Church.

She retired from the West Penn Power Company, which is now First Energy, after many years of service.

Besides her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Gomer H. Davis, Jr., whom she married August 14, 1967 and passed away July 14, 2012; her stepson, Thomas E. Davis; her brothers, Edward and Rev. John J. Strimel and sisiter-in-law, Jean Strimel.

Jean is survived by her brother, Thomas Strimel; her niece, Joyce (Ernest) Leedy; her nephew, Jay (Janet) Strimel; a great-niece, great-nephew, their families and her feline companion, Peppy.

Friends may call 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland and from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the Cortland Christian Church, 153 Grove St. in Cortland, where Pastor Donald Barnes will officiate the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.

Interment will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Braddock Cemetery in Braddock, Pennsylvania.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cortland Christian Church or to the Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont, Pennsylvania.
