Lincoln Avenue project finishing up

The road has been closed for months while it was repaved

Construction on Wick and Lincoln avenues around Youngstown State's campus is well underway.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – In just a few weeks, Lincoln Avenue will be back opened for traffic.

The road has been closed for months while it was repaved. Sidewalks and crossings have also been redone.

Deputy Public Works Director Charles Shasho says work is going well, but it won’t be done before the end of the year. There are a few things, like landscaping and permanent road marking, that can only be done in warm weather.

“I think likely we’ll get the brickwork finished on the sidewalk areas this season,” he said. “If it doesn’t, we’ll temporarily fill them in and come back in the spring.”

Wick Avenue is also closed as part of the multi-million-dollar project. Shasho said that project is ahead of schedule, despite some early problems with utility lines.
