Key Returnees
Coach Muckleroy states, “our leadership starts with our seniors.” Brandon McFall (5’9/G) scored 8.8 points and 2.0 assists last season. McFall connected on 72.7% (16-22) of his free throws while sinking 31.1% of his three-point attempts (28-90). Jake Cummings (6’0/G-F) missed his entire junior campaign with a knee injury. As a sophomore in 2014-15, Cummings finished third on the team in scoring (10.5), rebounding (4.8) and assists (1.8). He led the Cardinals in three-point percentage (44.2%). Jared Clark (6’0/F) and Lance Batton (6’1/F) will both be counted on to take on a bigger role in the 2016-17 season. The junior class offers plenty of talented athletes who could step into key roles this season – Tyler Dobrindt (6’0/F), Ethan Kalina (5’8/G), Ian McGraw (5’10/G), Anthony Pacifico (6’1/F), Ben Shapiro (5’8/G), Zach Tinkey (6’2/F), and Spencer Woolley (6’3/F). “”Through the months of September and October, I have spent a lot of time with all of these players,” states Muckleroy. “I truly enjoy spending time with this team both on-and-off the court. Hopefully, that’s a good indicator of what is to come with the 2016-17 Season.”

Outlook
The Cardinals have won 52 games within the last three seasons (52-21). “Canfield basketball teams are asked to put forth a great amount of effort in practice and in (the) contests,” says Muckleroy. “This team is extremely skilled but just lacks the experience of past teams. Also, this team has an “always in the fight” attitude, as they are willing to work hard for 32+ minutes. There are some offensive and defensive aspects that we’ll need to fill but we have some talent that will hopefully flourish as the season progresses.”
