BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Black Friday shopping was in full swing Friday afternoon, with some stores opening on Thanksgiving.

Shopping bags in hand, people were cashing in on Black Friday deals and putting a dent on their Christmas lists.

“I’m shopping for my mom, so I’m getting her some things and my older sister, I have some things in mind but nothing specific,” said Jessica Joerndt, of Boardman.

First stop for Joerdndt was JCPenney at the Southern Park Mall. It was her first Black Friday experience, and she said she was surprised that there were not more people out.

“It’s not that bad. There’s a good amount of people, but it’s not like terrible as I expected to be — like really crowded,” she said.

It was Lucie Noall’s first time shopping on Black Friday, too. She said it wasn’t as busy as she expected, and she believed many started shopping earlier on Thursday.

Noall was impressed with some of the deals.

“I got $100 free from JCPenney,” she said.

At 6 a.m., the store handed out coupons that could be worth $10, $100 or $500.

Noall put her money to good use.

“I got a mini Crock-Pot, a purse and some boots,” she said.

Bath and Body Works’ whole store was buy three, get three free.

People were lined up outside of Victoria’s Secret just before 6 a.m. Friday. To be the first in line, you had to wake up early.

The store had $10 t-shirts, and beauty accessories were buy one, get one free.

If you haven’t stepped into the Black Friday madness, you still have a chance. The Southern Park Mall is open until 10 p.m. Friday.
