CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – One group of shops in Cortland added a little twist to Small Business Saturday with the Gingerbread Walk.

Local shops that took part in the event had sales on holiday merchandise. Customers could also enter to win a gift basket, featuring items from every participating store.

Christina Benton, organizer of the Gingerbread Walk, talked about what this event means for business in the community.

“It’s really nice to bring the community together,” she said. “It is an all-free, family event. We just ask that you come support the local businesses and even get to learn about us.”

“Really, it’s getting out there, getting into the community [and] letting people know what we do.”

Twelve shops in Cortland participated in this year’s Gingerbread Walk and more than 20 other local businesses were represented in the Cortland Opera House.
