Key Returnees
The Lady Spartans lost 8 seniors from last year’s 14-win team. The team returns three letter winners in seniors Lauren Gabriele and Lauren Pavlansky along with junior Jenna Vivo. Gabriele posted a strong junior campaign by averaging 11.3 points and hauling down 6 boards a game. She was a First-Team All-AAC recipient last winter. Pavlansky was counted upon to be the team’s three-point threat off the bench last year. This season, Lauren will slide into the role of shooting guard as she’ll be asked to score more. Vivo, the team’s point guard, led Boardman in assists and steals despite missing time due to an injury. Jenna took Second-Team All-AAC honors. The Lady Spartans’ will look to junior Annaliisa Cordova and sophomore Cate Green as their other two starters.

Outlook
For the first time since 2010, the Lady Spartans won the Sectional Championship last February. Coach Hammerton says despite losing eight seniors – “This team has worked hard in the off-season and have done everything I’ve asked of them to start the season. The coaching staff (and myself) have been pleased with their effort and look to continue the success that those seniors left behind for them.”
