Game Notes
Steel Valley is the first WPIAL team to win every game (regular season and playoffs) by the mercy rule since it was instituted into the PIAA in 1998. Their win over Neshannock (49-14) at Robert Morris gave the Ironmen their first WPIAL championship since 1989. Paris Ford (a Pitt recruit) returned his 5th interception of the season for a score in the win. Quarterback Ryan Harper tossed for 2 touchdowns and threw for 186 yards on Saturday. Steel Valley has now defeated their four playoff opponents by a combined score of 192-42.

Wilmington advanced to the State Semifinals for the first time since 2009 after their 42-0 victory over Kane. The Greyhounds had a balanced offensive attack which garnered 227 yards passing and another 278 on the ground. Quarterback Reese Bender threw for 227 yards on just 8 completions (4 which were for touchdowns). Spencer DeMedal (104) and Cameron Marett (100) each ran for over 100-yards. Coach Terry Verrelli won his 300th game on Saturday. The ‘Hounds have outscored their playoff opponents by a combined score of 185-15.
