Austintown lake no longer for sale

It had been set for auction at the Mahoning County Auditor's sale, but residents are looking for ways to save it

Woodside Lake in Austintown Township is up for sale, and neighbors are worried about what that could mean.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The lake at the center of an Austintown neighborhood will stay, for now.

It had been set for auction at the Mahoning County Auditor’s sale on Wednesday.

Mahoning County Auditor Ralph Meacham said Tuesday that Woodside Lake and dam are being pulled out of the sale. He says residents are looking for ways to save the lake in their backyards.

They have hired engineers to see just how much it would take to repair the dam.

The State of Ohio says the old dam at the lake is in danger of breaching.

The sale of nearly two dozen other properties will still go forward tomorrow at 11 a.m.
