Family: Driver in fatal Southern Park Mall accident had seizure before crash

Police have identified the woman who died of her injuries after being struck by a truck as she was walking near JCPenney on Tuesday

A person was hit and killed in the parking lot at the Southern Park Mall in Boardman.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The family of the driver involved in a fatal accident outside of the Southern Park Mall said he suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

On Wednesday, the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 65-year-old Judy Dailey. The coroner said she died of blunt force trauma within minutes.

Police said Tuesday that a truck hit Dailey as she was walking in the parking lot near JCPenney. She died as a result of her injuries.

The family of the driver of the pickup truck reached out to WKBN and said he had a seizure and blacked out before hitting Dailey. They say he is now in the hospital undergoing tests.

Investigators would not confirm the information and have not released any further details, including the name of the driver. They cited an ongoing investigation.
