YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – There will be a funeral service held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street, Boardman, for Andrew J. Henik, 92, of Youngstown, who passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2016.
Andrew will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his generous and outgoing personality.
He was born November 21, 1924 in Youngstown, the son of George and Mary (Klacik) Henik and was a lifelong area resident.
Andrew worked as an auto mechanic and body repairman for Market Motors for many years and then retired in 1986 from Wean United as a machinist after 25 years of service.
Andrew had many passions throughout this life. He enjoyed working on automobiles, fishing and bowling. He was a member of the Italian American Bowling League at Camelot Lanes. He loved spending time with Virginia and Paul along with all the guys at Duncan’s Collision, where he would run for parts, helped keep the shop running and everyone laughing.
His wife of over 64 years, the former Mary Grieco whom he married on February 10, 1945, died May 20, 2009.
He leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories two daughters, Virginia Duncan of Geneva and Patricia (Edward) McLaughlin of California; two grandchildren Rex (Raven) McLaughlin and Ross (Kristy) McLaughlin; three great-grandchildren, Mya, Trey and Annabelle Rose and a sister, Dorothy Schultz of Austintown.
Besides his parents and wife, Andrew was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Goehring; a son-in-law, Paul Duncan; a sister, Mary Ann Cheff and four brothers, Michael, Joseph, George and Jake Henik.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 1:30 – 1:55 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman prior to the service.
