WARREN, Ohio – Robert E. Haftman of Warren, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Andover Village Nursing Home, Andover, Ohio. He was 85.
Robert was born May 30, 1931 in Richeyville, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Henry and Anna Marcovitch Haftman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Republic Steel (WCI) after 40 years as a Boiler Repairman.
Robert was a member of Niles First Church of the Nazarene for many years.
He was united in marriage to Ileen Murphy Haftman on November 15, 1952, who passed away on January 5, 2005.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He volunteered at his church and at the Warren Family Mission. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed the outdoors and liked camping, fishing and doing yardwork.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Millie Swartz of Niles and Roberta (Bret) Fleckenstein of Ashtabula; a brother, Donald of Richyville, Pennsylvania; a sister, Delores Cheroki of Monessen, Pennsylvania and four grandchildren, Chase, Jordan, Aaron and Will.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Bernie and Edward and a sister, Lilian.
Services for Robert will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel in Vienna, Ohio. The family will greet friends from Noon until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Morgan officiating.
Burial will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Niles Church of the Nazarene, 1822 Vienna Road, Niles, OH 44446.
