YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office has a brand new vehicle, courtesy of federal money.

The federal government gave the department a new 2017 Ram 1500 crew cab that an undercover deputy will use.

The county supplies the deputy to work undercover with the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force.

“It’s a nice benefit, it really is, but it’s just another example of the federal government collaborating with local government to put bad guys in jail,” Sheriff Jerry Greene said.

Mahoning County Commissioners accepted the gift at Thursday’s board meeting. Retail prices on the new truck start at around $40,000.
