YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man was sentenced Friday for his part in the April 2014 shooting death of Maurise Kerns.
Michael Wilkins was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Friday in Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas Judge Maureen Sweeney’s courtroom. In October, he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a firearm specification.
Investigators said the shooting was in retaliation to a March 21 shooting in which Bralin Allen was shot.
Brothers Breandre Allen and Bralin Allen were sentenced to 20 years and 15 years in prison, respectively, for their role in Kerns’ shooting. They pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter with a firearms specification and felonious assault.
