Last month, the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County broke ground on its new west side branch on Mahoning Avenue. The old building closed last April.

The Michael Kusalaba family donated $1.68 million to build the new library. The new branch will be named in his honor.

Construction is expected to take about a year.
