Wilmington falls to Steel Valley in State Semifinals

Steel Valley's Paris Ford rushing past Wilmington players en route to a touchdown Friday night sending the Ironmen to the state championship.

WEXFORD, PA (WKBN)-The Wilmington Greyhounds (12-2) saw their season come to an end in the P.I.A.A. Class 2A State Semifinals, falling to undefeated Steel Valley (14-0), 49-13 at North Allegheny High School.

The Ironmen amassed 283 yards rushing. Senior DeWayne Murray carried it 11 times for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior Najheir West rushed 6 times for 136 yards, and score twice.

The Hounds were led by senior Spencer DeMedal. He ran for 70 yards on 14 carries. Senior quarterback Reese Bender threw two 4th quarter touchdown passes. Wilmington finishes the season (12-2).

The Ironmen advance to the P.I.A.A. Class 2A State Championship game next Saturday at 11am at Hersheypark Stadium.
