YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Celebrating 125 years of Mill Creek Park.

The park’s yearly Winter Celebration is dedicated to its long history.

Step inside the visitors center and you’re greeted by Volney Rogers, the man known for transforming the metro parks. The walls are lined with old photos and a timeline of the park’s history.

You can also see replicas of the park’s features, like Lanterman’s Mill and the Suspension Bridge.

“Mill Creek Park and now Mill Creek Metroparks has become quite a gem here in the Mahoning Valley,” said Mandy Smith, horticulture education manager. “[You] get an idea what it took to create this place.”

Here is the schedule for the Winter Celebration for the rest of December:

– Dec. 3-31, Tuesdays-Sundays from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

– Extended hours on Saturdays and Sundays (Dec. 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18) from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.

– Closed Monday’s and Christmas Day
