CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – CBS affiliate Channel 19 in Cleveland is reporting that a 2000 graduate of Chagrin Falls high school was one of the people inside the deadly warehouse fire in Oakland, California.
Fire investigators still list Billy Dixon as missing.
36 people died in the fire over the weekend.
Sources close to Dixon’s family have released this statement:
Everybody thinks the world of Billy Dixon. His friends and family all know him as a truly great person, an immensely talented musician, extremely intelligent, always quick with a joke and great with conversation, and a kind and compassionate soul. He always has a huge smile and a hug for everyone no matter how long he has known them and has an amazing gift of making people feel appreciated. Those seem like generic compliments but it’s all very very true about Billy. Everyone around him loves him and is proud to know him, and he is blessed to have many, many people who call him a friend.”
The news comes as more victims from the deadly fire have been identified.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau released the names of 10 more fire victims who have been positively identified.
The City of Oakland says all 10 were from the San Francisco and Oakland area and all were in their 20s and 30s.
The announcement was the latest about victims of the blaze that killed at least 36 people.
The fire erupted during a dance party late Friday night. It’s unclear how it started.
