POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The fifth annual United Way Basketball Classic tournament took place at Poland Seminary High School on Saturday.
The first two contests featured girls teams, as Poland defeated LaBrae, 76-51, and Boardman beat South Range, 48-33.
The final two were boys games, as South Range downed Girard, 62-35, while Boardman defeated Poland, 61-56.
“It was kind of a perfect match with the basketball season right before the holidays,” said Roxann Sebest of the United Way. “Getting some of these teams that may not be matched up during the regular season. So it’s a weekend where we can get them together and play each other on the courts.”
All of the money raised supports the United Way and its programs. There was also a chance to win a new car.
