GIRARD, Ohio – Barbara Ann Smith, 61, of Girard, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in Lake Milton, Ohio.
Barbara was born February 23, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Charles J. and Mary M. McCay Smith, Sr.
Barbara was a graduate of Mount Union University and a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church.
For most of her life, Barbara worked for nonprofit organizations and was also an independent travel agent. She was a member of the Kiwanis Lodge in Medina, where she held the office of Vice-President, Circle K., executive director for Northeast Ohio Campfire, helped organize First Night of Canfield and was presently working on First Night in Medina. She loved telling stories and was a motivational speaker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her father, Charles of Girard; brothers, Charles J. Smith, Jr. of Medina, Keith A. Smith and Michael L. Smith, both of Girard; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 16, 2016, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and also on Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Barbara will be laid to rest at Churchill Cemetery.
