CORTLAND, Ohio – Janet Rose Canfield, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on December 14, 2016.
Janet was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, on December 23, 1922, to John and Maida (Hightree) Jones.
On June 8, 1940, she married Wilbur Canfield, whom preceded her in death on April 12, 1978.
She spent her career working as a secretary for Maplewood Schools Treasurers Office. She enjoyed volunteering and spent time helping at St. Joseph Medical Center and Trumbull Memorial Hospital, as well as, assisting the children with special needs at Maplewood Schools. She was also involved with Howland SCOPE and the Red Cross.
She is survived by her daughter, Bette Kistler; her daughter-in-law Norma Canfield; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Janet was preceded in death by her sons, Charles and Russell Canfield; her son-in-law, William L. Kistler; four grandchildren and her sisters, Carrie Rudge and Betty Canfield.
Visit with her family on Friday, December 16, 2016, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel; 164 N. High St, Cortland, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m.
