YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A judge has released the mother of a man convicted in a fraudulent sports memorabilia ring from jail.
Tuesday, Cliff Panezich said he would take a plea deal only if his mother, Rose, was released.
Prosecutors called Cliff the leader of a scheme to sell sports memorabilia items with forged signatures on eBay. His mother, Rose, was sentenced to a year of house arrest in September for her part in the crime.
Police said Rose shipped the merchandise to victims of her son’s enterprise.
She was later taken to the jail on a parole violation for refusing to cooperate with authorities in the case against her son.
Wednesday, she was released from jail and is now on probation.
Cliff Panezich is scheduled to be sentenced in about six weeks.
