AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Albert J. Vekasy, age 82, of Austintown, passed unexpectedly surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
Born October 18, 1934 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Zigmond and Julia (Breznai) Vekasy.
Al retired from General Motors in 1999 after 32 years of service as a tool and die maker.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed golf, he was a master of the daily cross-word puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Maryann (Marinke); sons, Raymond and Thomas; daughter-in-law Suzanne; grandchildren, Thomas (Megan), Taylor, Michelle and Michael; brother, Louis (Judy) of Florida and a sister, Cathy Swogger of Arizona.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Austintown, where friends will be received one hour prior.
Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
