BOARDMAN, Ohio – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, with Father Bernard Timothy O.P. officiating, preceded by a 12:15 p.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Rose M. Viano, 99, of Boardman, who passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2016 at the Assumption Village under Hospice care.

Rose will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for being a wonderful, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a kind, loving, generous woman with a great sense of humor. When her beloved husband Jim became ill, Rose was a great caregiver for him the whole time never leaving his side.

She was born September 3, 1917 in Youngstown, the daughter of Angelo and Rosaria (Giuffre) Famularo and was a lifelong area resident.

Rose was a proud homemaker and a true matriarch for her family. They will all miss her excellent cooking of all the Italian dishes and traditions, especially she was known for her homemade wedding soup, her sauce and homemade pastas.

Rose was employed for over 20 years at South Side Hospital as a cashier in the cafeteria and retired in 1982.

Rose was a lifelong proud member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica and was a member of the Mothers of Crucifix Society.

Rose had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed shopping and reading, but her family was always first and she was so proud of all them.

Her Husband James W. Viano, Sr., whom she married March 5, 1946 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church died July 6, 1997.

She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her two sons, Anthony (Helene) Viano and James, Jr. (Christine) Viano both of Boardman; five grandchildren, Tony Viano, Amy (John) Oravets, James, III (Jennifer) Viano, Scott (Gina) Viano and Leah (Alessandro) Lumbaca; eight great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Julianna, Ava, Ethan, Samantha, Gabriella, Christian and Alina and sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s Ellen Famularo, Louis Conti, Tony (Rita) Lucarell along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Joseph Famularo and three sisters, Angie Famularo, Mary Vadino and Nancy Nolfi.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market ST., Boardman.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Rose’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.

On behalf of Rose’s family, they would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of the Assumption Village, the Marian Living Center and Hospice of the Valley for all their care and compassion shown to them and Rose through this difficult time.
