NILES, Ohio – Violet “Vi” Rose Fredericka, 93, of Niles passed on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 8:03 p.m. in St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, with her loving family at her side.
Violet was born on January 3, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of Anthony and Mary Collelo.
She obtained her formal education in the Youngstown school system, graduating from Chaney High School in 1942. She continued her education at Youngstown State University.
Her work experience included employment at Republic Rubber Corporation, Macali’s Supermarkets and Stambaugh Thompson Corporation.
One January 26, 1952, Violet Collelo and John “Chaney” Fredericka were united in marriage. She and John were married for 62 years until his passing on March 24, 2014.
Violet enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors. She and her husband traveled often, including trips to Hawaii, California, Europe, New York and New Jersey. Vi was an animal lover all her life having numerous pets. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends.
Memories of Violet will be carried on by her sons, John T. Fredericka of Niles and Dr. Nick Fredericka of Warren and her niece, Doreen Ardnt of Youngstown.
Preceding Vi were her husband, John; her parents, Anthony and Mary Collelo; her brother, Anthony L. Collelo and his wife, Elizabeth; her sisters, Phyllis Collelo, Lucy Koczwara, Frances Royer and Elizabeth Cizmar; her brothers-in-law, Stanley Koczwara, Mike Cizmar and Austin Royer and her favorite nephew, Fred E. Royer.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Ohio with the Rev. John-Michael Lavelle as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Niles City Cemetery.
