NILES, Ohio – A memorial service celebrating the life of Kenneth Delmar Chapman will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, at the First United Methodist Church of Girard.
Ken passed away Saturday, January 7, at Vista Care at the Ridge at the age of 78.
He was born March 4, 1938 in Youngstown, the son of Laurence and Frances (Woods) Chapman and was a lifelong area resident.
He attended Chaney High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1955 until 1958.
Ken worked as an electrician with Copper Weld Steel, retiring in 1988.
He attended the church and was a member of the Army/Navy Garrison 422 where he was past commander, the Scottish Rite of the Youngstown Valley, a member of the Rolling Thunder and he was a past master for the Sincerity Lodge of Niles.
His wife, the former Judith Philips, whom in married March 9, 1957, passed away November 7, 2012.
Ken leaves two daughters, Karen (Frank) Cretella of Girard and Kathy Chapman, with whom he made his home and one son, John Chapman of McDonald; two grandchildren Frank Cretella, Jr. and Katie Cretella and two great-grandsons, Dominick and Anthony all of Girard. Ken also leaves his in-laws Robert and Sandy Fuzy of Austintown; Ed Gayan of Youngstown; Jack and Barb Philips of California and his companion, Daisy McCune of Lordstown.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14 at the church where services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
