NILES, Ohio – Roger C. Burns, Sr., 92, of Niles passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Health Center.
He was born August 25, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Jack and Florence Burns.
He came to Warren in 1940 and retired in 1985 from WCI formerly Republic Steel as a bricklayer in the blast Furnace Department after 28 years.
Roger was a member of St. Stephens Church in Niles, a Trustee at the VFW Post 1090, Girard Army & Navy Garrison and the Warren Moose 186. He enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Roger had served our country in U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and WW II.
Roger is survived by his son, Roger C. “Buddy” (Gladys) Burns, Jr. of Niles; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Dorothy “Tiny” Fauceglia of Howland.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn J. Burns who he married November 15, 1944 and passed away February 12, 2014; son, David “Skippy” Burns; two grandsons, David, Jr. and Matthew Burnsand and two sisters, Jerry Ruks and Jackie Amber.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, January 11 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio.
A service will be Wednesday, January 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. James Korda officiating.
