ENON VALLEY, Pennsylvania – Donald Leroy McCreary, Sr., 89, passed away after a lengthy illness, January 10, 2017 at his home with family by his side.
He was born November 17, 1928 in Lowellville, Ohio, son of the late Herbert and Winnifred Buchannan McCreary.
Donald was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps where he rose to the rank of sergeant.
He worked for a number of years for Veon Trucking as a truck driver.
Donald is survived by two sons, Donald (Mary) McCreary, Jr. of Enon Valley, Pennsyvania and Robert McCreary also of Enon Valley; three daughters, Shari Price of Greenville, Pennsylvania, Michelle (Steve) Haviland of Enon Valley and Jodie (Gary) Huston of Bessemer; three sisters, Edyth Remley, Patricia Grauer and Joan Caballero all of Arizona; grandson, Nicholas McCreary, whom he lived with, as well as nine other grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three honorary grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, the former Dorothy Sprankle in 2002, whom he married in 1949 as well as a son, Terry McCreary and a daughter, Tammy McCreary, four brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with Rev. Matthew Bupp officiating.
Interment will follow with honors at the Little Beaver Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 12 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
