WARREN, Ohio – Tresa B. Stavlas, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She was born November 19, 1932, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late George and Maria Bourekas.
She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, a graduate of Youngstown State University with B.S. in Education.
She had previously taught at Youngstown South and Rayen High School and had been a substitute teacher in Warren School System. Tresa had been co-owner of the Sunset INN on W. Market St. from 1967 to 1993.
She was member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren and the Chios Society. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was avid sports fan.
She is survived by her son, Gerald “Jerry” (Victoria) Stavlas of Bay Village, Ohio; two grandchildren, John (Shawna) Stavlas of Lake Mary, Florida and Christopher Stavlas of San Francisco; two great-grandchildren, Gerald “Jet” and Easton and a brother, Dr. Louis Bourekis of Springfield, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John G. Stavlas who she married October 17, 1954 and passed away February 23, 1997 and a brother, Dr. James Bourekis.
Family and friends may call Friday, January 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with 5:15 p.m. Trisagion at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 and Saturday, January 21, 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren.
A service will be Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.
