SHARON, Pennsylvania – John A. Ragster, Sr., of Sharon, died unexpectedly at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at his residence. He was 63.
The Farrell native was born April 15, 1953, the son of the late Rosetta (Satterwhite) Ragster and the Rev. Clem Ragster.
He graduated from Farrell High school then received his bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University in computer programming.
He retired as a computer programmer.
John was a member of Greater Morris Chapel AME Church in Farrell.
His hobbies included reading and cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was also a very faithful man.
Survivors include a daughter, Kwanza Ragster of Chicago; a son, John A. Ragster, Jr. and his wife, Demetria, of Michigan; two sisters, Wanda Ragster-Wilson of Abingdon, Maryland and Lorraine Ragster of Austintown, Ohio; two brothers, Clem Ragster, Jr. of Woodbridge, Virginia and Rodney Ragster of Buffalo, New York and four grandchildren, Markez, Sam, Winter and Greg.
Calling hours will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 25 in Greater Morris Chapel AME Church, 926 Darr Avenue, Farrell with the Rev. Mark Alexander officiating.
Cremation will follow services at the funeral home crematory.
