WARREN, Ohio – Shirley Delores Sherretts, age 90 of Warren passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Eastland Hospital in Warren.
She was born on February 9, 1926 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of the late Fred Garula and Matilda (Zimmerman) Garula.
Shirley married the love of her life, David Sloan Sherretts on August 30, 1949 and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage together before he passed away on November 30, 2003.
Shirley has lived in Champion since 1959 formerly of Pennsylvania and Warren, Ohio.
She worked at Ohio Lamp for 30 years retiring in 1987.
Shirley was a member of the First Assembly of God in Warren for many years and she loves to read, do puzzles and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother; stepfather and one sister, LaVerne Gere and one great-granddaughter, Miranda Dean.
Memories of Shirley will be carried on by her loving family of two daughters, Mindy (Bud) Hayes of Newton Falls, Ohio and Lori (Michael) Barta of Tula Rosha, New Mexico; one son, Charles (Cecelia) Sherretts of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Wallace of Meadville, Pennsylvania and Florence (William) Hoogstud of Linesville, Pennsylvania; one brother, Ronald Grapatin of Andover, Ohio; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at the Rock of Grace Church 6746 St Rt. 5 Kinsman, Ohio 44428 on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Biel will be officiating the service.
Shirley will be laid to rest beside her husband, David at Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Warren.
