HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania – Mary Jo Sed of Hermitage passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, February 9 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, she was 79.
Mrs. Sed was born May 15, 1937 in Kane, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Frank and Irene McCready Marasco.
She and her family moved to the area in 1943.
Mary Jo began her career as a Registered Nurse and retired from O’Brien Memorial Nursing Home in Masuryas a family liaison.
She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon.
Surviving is her son, James Sed of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Petrini and her husband, Robert of Pittsburgh and Elizabeth “Beth” Kelly and her husband, Don of Hermitage; a brother, Joseph Marasco and his wife, Ellie of Norfolk, Virginia; six grandchildren, Nate Sed, Kristen Wilson and her husband, Brad, Bobby Petrini and his wife, Julia, Thomas Petrini and his wife, Kelley, Daniel Kelly and James Kelly and his wife, Amanda; eight great-grandchildren, Violet and Henry Kelly, Nolan, Victor and Brielle Wilson and Lucca, Giana and Francesca Petrini; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Jim Dickey and her beloved dog, Gizmo.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Marasco and Pasqual Marasco, who died in infancy.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Rose Cemetery endowment fund, P.O. Box 1607, Hermitage, Pennsylvania 16148 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Per Mary Jo’s wishes, there are no calling hours.
Private Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery chapel in Hermitage, with Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of Church of the Good Shepherd in West Middlesex, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Hermitage.
