One in three children is living in poverty in Mahoning County.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County’s Department of Job and Family Services was evacuated after a bed bug sighting on Wednesday.

The closure is only supposed to be for Wednesday afternoon. The county expects to reopen the office Thursday morning.

JFS Director Robert Bush said county employees saw a client with sores and numerous bedbugs in his clothing. The client was in the lobby and in JFS offices.

Sheriffs deputies said they saw bedbugs falling off the man’s clothing.

Bush said he made the decision to close the office.

Workers were sent home — with pay — for the rest of the day. Exterminators were brought in as a precaution.

No other offices were impacted.
