WARREN, Ohio – Napoleon “Po” “Manny” Calhoun, Jr., 68, of 1945 Parkwood Drive NW, Warren, departed this life Friday, March 3, 2017 at 9:31 p.m. at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, following complications from an extended illness.
He was born March 15, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Napoleon Calhoun, Sr. and Eleanor Hall Murray, residing in the area for 42 years.
Mr. Calhoun was employed with General Motors B.O.C. Lordstown Division for 33 years as an Assembler, before retiring in 2005. He also worked as a Blacksmith for Sheet & Tube Steel Corp.
He was a member of New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, air shows and military drills.
He was a 1966 graduate of North High School.
He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a Tech Sergeant E6 during the Vietnam War, receiving several honors.
He married Julia Kim Butler Calhoun November 22, 1991.
Besides his wife of Warren, he leaves to mourn two daughters, Ms. Amy Lynn Calhoun of Youngstown and Ms. Ariel De’Shay Calhoun of Warren; two stepsons, Brian E. Miller of Warren and William A. Miller of Meadville, Pennsylvania; one stepdaughter, Ms. Sonia Miller of Youngstown; three sisters, Ms. Phyllis Cross of Laurel, Mississippi, Ms. Karen Murphy of Mineral Ridge and Ms. Lynette Calhoun of Youngstown and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepdaughter, Ms. Yvette Miller and one grandchild, Devon Baugh.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to service, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon.
Family will receive friends at 1945 Parkwood Drive NW, Warren 44485.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
