NILES, Ohio – Eugene E. Wagner 73, of Niles died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Warren.
He was born July 6, 1944 in Long Beach California to Charles B. and Hulda Mae Swager Wagner and lived in the area most of his life.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McDonald and had worked for Van Huffel Tube for several years.
Eugene enjoyed watching football and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye’s fan. He also enjoyed working on bicycles and lawnmowers and especially liked to workout at the Wellness Center in Niles. He also made many friends at the Hope Center.
Eugene was a 1964 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. It was there he met his high school sweetheart, Betty Lee Stevens. They were married November 11, 1964.
Besides his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Christine (Brian) Sparling of Niles and Evangeline (Wayne) Posey of Braceville; his son, Eugene (Ann) Wagner of Desterhan, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Kyle, Emily, Brianna, Aaron, Johnathan and Abigail and three great-grandchildren, Mia, Ronnie and Bailey.
Besides his parents, a sister, Doris Prox, as well as a brother, James Wagner are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Niles City Cemetery.
