BOARDMAN, Ohio – Frederick N. Thayer, 95, of Boardman, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Frederick was born in Linesville, Pennsylvania, on September 28, 1921, the son of the late Jack D. “J.D.” and Naomi (Dennis) Thayer.
He graduated from Linesville High School and moved to the Youngstown area in the late 1940’s.
He served four years in the U.S. Army, during World War II.
Frederick worked for Kroger Grocery Company, the Tri County Division for over 39 years. He was the manager of the Meat Department.
He was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Youngstown and The American Legion.
Frederick is survived by two sons, David (Marie) Thayer of Lomita, California and Dennis Thayer of Boardman; a granddaughter, Heather Marie (James) Jones and a great-granddaughter, Emily Ann Thomas, all from Louisville, Kentucky, who absolutely adored their “Grandpa”; a niece, Frances Ann Klein and nephew, Paul Keyes and a long time dear companion, Maxine Henningsen of Boardman.
Besides his parents, Frederick was preceded in death by wife of 49 years, the former Mary Lillian Hayden; a son Donald N. Thayer and two stepsisters, Audrey Keyes and Darlene Hall.
Private services were held for Frederick. There are no calling hours.
