WARREN, Ohio – Howard Eugene “Gene” Carder, 73, of Warren and formerly of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 1:15 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown following a short illness.
Gene was born on March 18, 1944 in Denver, Colorado the son of the late Bernard and Margretha Carder.
A veteran of the United States Army, Gene served his country abroad during the Vietnam War as a field medic with the First Calvary Division. He would make a career in the United States Military retiring after more than ten years of service.
Gene was a member of the Bolindale Christian Church and was an avid bowler.
Gene is survived by his companion of many years, Sandra L. Stitle Williams of Warren; stepdaughter Shirley L. McIntroy of Warren; sons, John Carder of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and Scott (Melissa) Carder of Leesburg, Florida; a daughter, Tammie (David) Keefer of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter, Tiffany (fiancé Jeremy Morgan) Browning of Warren and two stepgreat-grandchildren, James and Makaylynn Morgan. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Gladys Klinger Carder of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tina Cruz.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home, where a parlor service will take place immediately following at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
