HAMPTON, Virginia (Formerly East Liverpool, Ohio) – Ronald K. Johnson, of Hampton, Virginia, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away at his home Friday, April 14, 2017. He was 84.
Born in Waverly, West Virginia, December 30, 1932, he was a son of the late Okey Johnson and Edith Smith Johnson.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Navy.
For many years he worked at the Bruce Mansfield Power Plant in Shippingport where he was a supervisor in the coal yard. Following his retirement, he lived in Leesburg, Florida for 20 years until recently moving to Hampton.
A member of the New Cumberland Lodge #22 of the Free and Accepted Masons, he was also a 32nd Degree member of the Wheeling Lodge and the Shrine.
His wife, Shirley Semian Johnson, survives at home. The couple married April 23, 1954. There are two sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Johnson and his wife, Vicki, of East Liverpool and Joseph “Joe” Johnson and his wife, Jackie, of Hampton, Virginia; as well as four grandchildren, Nick Johnson Katie Johnson, Ashley Virgin and Jonathan Stefanowicz and two great-grandchildren, Caiden Carter and Emmabelle Virgin.
Friends may visit Wednesday evening, April 19 at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a funeral service Thursday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.
