LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania – Georgina L. “Gina” Silverthorn of Lackawannock Township, formerly of Paauhau, Hawaii, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at home. She was 87.
She was born on July 1, 1929 in Kukihaele, Hawaii, the daughter of Jack V. and Philomena Ladra.
She worked for the Navy at Pearl Harbor and Barbers Point as a supply clerk.
She was a homemaker who loved working in her flower gardens, reading and dancing. She was an accomplished tole painting artist and carver. She loved traveling with the Grove City Highland Band and was a co-instructor for the Northwest Pennsylvania Scottish Country Dance Society.
She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews living in California, Oregon and Hawaii, as well as friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Silverthorn, at home; a sister, Julia Moniz of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; a brother, Jack D. Ladra of Pearl City, Hawaii; a sister, Myra Walton; and friend, Patch McClelland of Grove City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elsie Perry and a brother, Leroy Ladra, both of Hawaii.
Calling hours will be 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 28 at John Flynn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hermitage.
Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with C. Charles Eckles, pastor of I.H.S Gospel Ministries officiating.
Burial will be in America’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
