GENEVA, Ohio – A memorial services celebrating the life of Mae Madelyn Nacarato will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Schiavone Funeral Home.
Mae passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Geneva Hospital with her sons and grandson by her side, at the age of 91.
She was born April 2, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Casey W. and Cathryn (Subick) Dominic.
She lived in Youngstown and Liberty Township until 1989, when she moved to Geneva.
She was the co-owner of the VIP Bar and Grill in downtown Youngstown, Ohio and also Wacky’s VIP Bistro in Liberty, Ohio, until her retirement in 1984.
She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Brier Hill and a former member of the ITAM Post #3 Women’s Auxiliary. She also ran the Senior Citizens Bingo Games at the ITAM for many years. In 1976, Mae was voted Liberty Football Booster of the year. She also received the award for Outstanding Achievement in the field of Civic Professional and Veterans Organizations.
Her husband of 37 years, Ralph A. Nacarato, passed away June 3, 1989.
Mae leaves three children, one daughter, Kathy Nacarato Buttrey of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons, Ralph (Mary Ann) Nacarato of Girard and Nick Nacarato of Liberty; three grandchildren, Jason, whom she raised, Nicolette, Kassidy and one great-grandchild, Adin. Mae also leaves two sisters, Eleanor DiCiero of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kinsey Sullivan of Atlanta, Georgia.
Besides her parents and husband, Mae was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony “Nick” Dominic.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Schiavone Funeral Home, where services will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Mae was a breast cancer survivor and in order to honor her, the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309 in her name.
A television tribute will air Monday, May 22 at the following approximate times:
12:25 p.m. WKBN, 6:58 p.m. on MyYTV and 10:37 p.m. FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
