NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – Mary Virginia Millikin “Genney”, also affectionately known as “Nana” to her grandchildren, age 98, passed away peacefully with her grandchildren by her side on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
Born on November 7, 1918 in Wintersville to the late Grover and Della (Gillespie) Ford, she was a lifelong area resident.
She worked at Republic Steel during W.W. II.
Her passion was music, reading and yard-work. Her mind was sharp and she credited her long life to healthy eating and exercise.
She was preceded in death by her five brothers; six sisters; her daughter, Eleanor Cheeks, as well as two grand-daughters, Sherry Cheeks and Debra Cheeks Lindenmuth.
She leaves behind her son, John A Shobel II; eight grandchildren, John B. Cheeks, Bridgette (John) Hall, Mark Cheeks, Katrina Armeni, Eric Cheeks, Leslie Massacci, Lissa Willis and John A. Shobel III; 19 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
Interment will follow at a later date.
