COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Mildred Olive (Hall) Bignell, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formally of Salem, went home to Heaven on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mt. St. Francis Nursing and Rehab in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Mildred was born on March 17, 1927 in Salem, the daughter of the late Lindley and Orpha (Pike) Hall of Woodsdale Rd. in Salem, Ohio.
She and her husband, Ray, were missionaries in Guatemala, Central America for over 57 years.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Association.
She was a devoted mother, wonderful grandmother, inspiring teacher and dedicated missionary.
She enjoyed dressmaking, cooking, gardening, writing letters and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on September 25, 2014 by her husband of 63 years, Ray Vernon Bignell, whom she married on May 28, 1951; her siblings, M. Evelyn Irey, Raymond Hall and daughter, Mildred Joy.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Robert) Gordon of Vineland, New Jersey, Linda (Willis) DeGarmo of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kenneth (Maxine) Bignell of Mitchell, South Dakota and Caroline (Darrell) Mattern of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her sisters, Marjorie Hall of Sebring and Betty Gullett of Salem; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Taberance in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
