WARREN, Ohio – William R. “Bill” Mathews, 77, of Warren, passed away with his family by his side Saturday morning, May 20, 2017, at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren.
He was born January 10, 1940 in Weston, West Virginia, a son of the late Dana and Ruth (Brown) Mathews.
Bill was employed as a Tow Motor Driver at the former Packard Electric Corp. in Warren, retiring after 40 years of service.
He had attended the North Mar Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and was an avid bowler.
Surviving are his wife, the former Roberta Sharabell “Sharie” White, whom he married October 10, 1960; a son, Donald Ray Mathews, of Columbus; a daughter, Virginia Kathryn (Joel) Davisson, of Palm Coast, Florida and a son, Russell Alan (Constance) Mathews, of Warren; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Carl (Barbara) Mathews, of Warren and a sister, Patty (Robert) Pumphrey, of Cortland.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jean Pumphrey, two brothers and his 13-year-old granddaughter, Shekinah Glory Davisson.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren.
Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
He will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, in the Peterson Cemetery, Weston, West Virginia.
