YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5 at the F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., for Mr. Fred A. Ahart, Sr., age 80 of Youngstown, who departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Louis Stokes Veterans Hospital in Cleveland.
Mr. Ahart was born on December 6, 1936 in Warren, Ohio, a son of Frank A. and Etha Carter Ahart, Sr.
He worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co., was a foreman for Electro General Plastics and worked at Progressive Field for the Cleveland Indians. He was also an Army Veteran.
He leaves his wife, the former Geraldine Bevly; children, Denise L. Ahart, Fred A. Ahart, Jr., both of Youngstown and Cheryl L. Ahart of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a sister, Foresteen Richardson of Youngstown; a brother, Frankie (Vickie) Rhodes of Vallejo, California; a special friend, Ora Jean McWhorter and family of Cleveland, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia J. Ahart; three brothers, Frank A., Jr., Elmer, Sr. and William A. Ahart; a sister, Afaretta Thomas and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5 at the funeral home.
