Helen Marie Van Horn, Warren, Ohio - obit

WARREN, Ohio – Helen Marie Van Horn, 72, of Warren, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at home.

She was born May 31, 1945 in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alick A. Bearfield and the late Mary (Speril) Bearfield.

On July 1, 1964, Helen married Earnest Eugene Van Horn and they spent 40 years together until his passing in 2004.

Helen was a graduate of Newton Falls High School and was employed as an Infection Control Aide at Austin Woods Nursing Home for over ten years.

When not playing Bingo at SCOPE of Warren, Helen, loved to go shopping, collect anything to do with dragons, crochet and used yarn and plastic frames to make little houses and other shapes.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: daughters, Tina (Darren Kirkland) Van Horn of Warren, Ohio, Carey (Timothy) Van Horn-Edler of Statesville, North Carolina and Sherry (Michael) Watkins of Wilkesboro, North Carolina and a son with whom she lived, Earnest Eugene (Renee) Van Horn, Jr. of Warren, Ohio; sister, Delores Kelly of Lowellville, Ohio; brother, Alick A. Bearfield, Jr. of Warren, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, as well as two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earnest Eugene Van Horn, Sr.; son, Chris Eugene Van Horn who passed in 1979; sister, Betty Miller; as well as one grandson and one great-grandson.

Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Fr. John R. Lody will officiate.

Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday, June 17, 11:00 a.m. -12:00 Noon.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren, Ohio.
