John Joseph Hamilton, Salem, Ohio – obit

SALEM, Ohio – John Joseph Hamilton, 72, of Salem, Ohio, died at 10:09 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born on March 19, 1945, in Belfontain, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas Anthony and Genevieve Mary (Gorman) Hamilton.

He was self-employed as a lighting rod installer.

He was a 1963 graduate of Salem High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

A member of the Salem St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

John was a very active person and enjoyed to work out. He followed his children over the years and attended their sporting events. If you knew John and would be around him, a good debate would soon come up. He was involved in keeping up with veteran affairs and was a member of many of the veteran groups. John was a good pool player and enjoyed to play the lottery games.

John is survived by his children of Salem, John Thomas Hamilton, Michael Anthony Hamilton, Joseph Kyle (Mariah Rast) Hamilton and his twin sister, Mary Genevieve Hamilton; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Landon Hamilton and siblings, Thomas (Pam) Hamilton of Cleveland and Annie (Richard) Huffman of Salem.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister, Molly Bridget Bledsoe in 2014.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 3:45 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, Pennsylvania.

A 4:00 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards as Celebrant on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. The Salem Honor Guard will offer full military honors at the conclusion of the services.

The Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2017, from 2:00 – 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made in their fathers memory to the St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
