WEST MIDDLESEX, Pennsylvania – Maxine L. Huff of West Middlesex died at 3:59 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, in the emergency room of Grove City Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 83.
Maxine was born March 26, 1934, in Meadville, a daughter of Ernest Peterson and Sarah (McCautry) Peterson.
She graduated from Lakeview High School and was a homemaker and a recorder at the Mercer County Courthouse.
Maxine was a member of the Presbyterian Church in West Middlesex and enjoyed gardening, sewing and traveling.
She is survived by a daughter, Jill Brown and her husband, Rick, of Mercer; two sons, Dan Slater of Mercer and Ronald Slater and his wife, Kathy, of New York; four sisters, Linda Gruver of Greenville; Jane Haskins and her husband, Skip, of Florida; Gladys McKay and her husband, Kenneth, of Mercer and Beverly Jewell and her husband, Bill, of Fredonia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles Slater and Luther Huff; a son, Warren Slater; two sisters, Shirley Smith and Patty Dick and a brother, Ernest “Ben” Peterson.
Calling hours will at 3:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday, June 17 in John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2630 E. State St., Hermitage.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17 in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. C. Charles Eckles officiating.
Burial will take place in New Lebanon Cemetery, Sandy Lake.
